BIG Day of Giving is here!
The BIG Day of Giving is next week on May 3. Sierra wants to thank everyone who supported us last year. We had 176 donors last year, of which 52 were new supporters. We also raised $72,000, placing us 5th in agencies in terms of money raised. As a result of your generosity Sierra Forever Families was able to place 15 children with prospective forever families and provide the support services they need to ensure their success.
The past year we have been interviewing families who adopted children from us in our “then and now stories.” Interestingly all of them have highlighted how important our training and parent support groups were for them. In fact, one family returned to our support group after their first adopted child had grown up and they were raising their niece. As they said, “It was like a refresher course.” Our training and on-going support services have been identified by our families as being key to their success. It is through your support that we are able to provide these services to our families.
This year our goal for BIG Day of Giving is to raise awareness of the mission of Sierra Forever Families and earn the support of 100 new donors. As Bob Herne, our CEO said, “Sierra Forever Families is grateful to be part of the BIG Day of Giving. It gives us an opportunity to highlight the need for our foster youth to live with the love, safety, and commitment of family. This day enables us to connect with and improve the place we call home, the greater Sacramento Region.”
Join us along with Sacramento Covered, Stanford Youth Solutions and Children’s Law Center of California on May 3rd for a fun lunchtime event on the BIG Day of Giving. In the Volunteer Lane courtyard, there will be music, food trucks and donation stations set up all to support four great organizations during the regions 24 hour giving day! Stop by our table, donate $50 or more and receive fun Sierra swag!
