2016 Capital Cup

2016 Capital Cup

Cap Cup logoThe Sacramento Capital Cup Tournament is back and in full-swing!  We are excited to announce that this year Jim Wilson is teeing off in support of Sierra Forever Families.  Deriving its inspiration from the Ryder Cup, a biennial men’s golf competition between teams from the United States and Europe, the Sacramento Capital Cup promotes comradery, competition, and community.  Taking its own spin on the Ryder Cup, however, the Capital Cup Tournament brings together Sacramento’s top business leaders to putt, drive, and fundraise for their chosen local charities.

Last year, due to overwhelming support, the Capital Cup raised over $450,000 for the twenty-four participating charities!  Hoping to raise the bar even higher, this year’s golfers are aiming to top $500,000. Each player is on one of two teams, and the charities of the team that comes out on top will also get a share of a $50,000 grand prize.  Additionally, for every $2,500 that each player manages to fundraise for their charity in the weeks leading up to the tournament, they get a “mulligan”– which may greatly improve their teams chances of winning.  The golf tournament itself will stretch from September 30 – October 2.  Beforehand, however, in addition to practicing on the green, each of the players will be relentlessly working to gather donations, 100% of which will go to the philanthropic organization of their choice!

Jim Wilson has chosen to compete to benefit Sierra Forever Families because it is a cause very near and dear to his heart.  With two children of his own Jim knows the importance of our youth and believes that every child deserves and needs a permanent, loving family.  He sees a nurturing family as not only a “right” but also as the foundation for a strong and successful future.  When asked why he specifically chose Sierra, Jim replied that he wanted to make sure that every dollar counted – that the money he raises will actually make a difference for an organization with great need.  More than anything though, he knows that “kids are important,” and that by supporting Sierra together we can continue working  towards creating a brighter, more promising future for our children in foster care.

So, how can you support Jim’s efforts and our mission?  Easy!  Just visit Jim’s donation page here: https://www.crowdrise.com/jim-wilson/fundraiser/jimwilson4 .  Remember, 100% of your donations are tax deductible and go directly to Sierra Forever Families.
